Adventurous History

Hello everyone!

People keep asking me to write a history curriculum. EWW! Why would anyone want THAT?! Much to my shame, I must admit that I only started two or three history textbooks throughout my school years and finished none of them. They were intensely boring and failed to connect me to the past in any way. My abhorrence of history textbooks gave birth to a new idea. Perhaps I could design a way to learn history that echoed the way I learned it, through stories, books, movies and activities. Cool, right?

I haven’t quite reached my great new design, but I do have to start somewhere. Thus, I am beginning a blog that will provide recommendations and ideas for parents and teachers, and come up with my fantastic book later on when I am rich and have plenty of time.

Without further ado:

But I am going to go on with some more ado…

The site is far from finished. As a matter of fact, I just started it today. So it will definitely be changing and evolving. That is all for now folks! Over and out.

Many Kinds of Voices

Hello everyone! Haven’t been posting because I have been incredibly busy. I had a wonderful time at a homeschool alumni event that lasted for several days. Played games, sports, dancing and met interesting new people. Best of all, there was no work, school or internet! That confirms it…I want to get lost on a deserted island.

Thought of the day:

If we lose our language, we will lose our breath. Then we will die and blow away like leaves. ~Annie Peaches, Western Apache

That reminded me of 1 Corinthians 14:10 “There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification” (by the way, “voices” in this context means “language”)

Getting ready to start a course called “Language, Culture and Society”. Now that I have had a vacation and refresher, it will be exciting to delve into the fascinating world of language!

The New Blog

Okay folks, I am resurrecting my blog for the…what? Third time? Fourth time? Whatever time it is, THIS time it is going to be awesome. It also going to include a website. So stay tuned for the upcoming adventures of this explorer. Whether we are traveling or learning something fascinating, you can join in. It should be up and running in a few days, and I will post the link then.

So the thought of the day is:

“We shouldn’t allow pagans to use rhetoric to persuade their audiences of false causes while Christians bore them with the truth” ~ St. Augustine.

My new inspiration to get creative and practice excellence in everything I do, because it matters for our credibility and reputation and ultimately in the picture of God’s greater Glory.
